Buying authorised veterinary medicines

As an animal owner, you’ll want to be sure that the medicines you’re giving your animals are safe, effective and legal. Buying your veterinary medicines from us, you can be sure that:

– we are a UK-based retailer and authorised to sell veterinary medicines. We can only suppply POM-V /POM-VPS to UK customers. 

– we only supply veterinary medicines that are authorised in the UK, meaning they’re proven to be safe and effective when used as directed.

We are registered as a Veterinary Practice Premises with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Our premises reference number is: 7241829 – You can verify our registration by contacting the RCVS directly. See here for details.

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD)https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/veterinary-medicines-directorate 

The VMD is the UK government agency responsible for the controls on veterinary medicines in the UK, including their authorisation, manufacture and supply. The Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS). 

In 2012 the VMD set up the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS) in response to the public’s concerns about buying veterinary medicines online.

We are currently awaiting accredition under the Scheme. Once we are fully accrediated we will be issued with a logo and registration number – you will be able to check our registration by using the above link.

General complaints procedure 

If you have a problem or compaint about our website or product purchased please contact us and we will endevour to resolve the problem. 

If the complaint relates to veterinary medicines and a satisfactory reply isn’t received from us you can make a complaint to the VMD. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/veterinary-medicines-directorate or email postmaster@vmd.defra.gsi.gov.uk

 

Authorisation and classification of veterinary medicines:

Any product in the UK that makes a veterinary medicinal claim must be authorised. You can tell if a veterinary medicine is authorised as it will include English language labelling that it’s important that you read and understand. The label will include a unique UK marketing authorisation number, which will appear in one of the following formats:

• Vm *****/****

• Vh *****/****

• EU/*/**/***/***-***

POM-V medicines 

Will only be supplied against a written prescription. We can supply you with a partly completed prescription which you will need to get your own vet to complete or you can get you own vet to issue one for the products required. You must then upload/email us this and post the origional to us before your order will be shipped. 

POM-VPS medicines

Will require you to complete a short questionnaire at checkout.

If you require a POM-VPS product but intend to use it to treat animal other than what it is licenced for – you will need to get a prescription from your vet before we can dispense the product.
